After yesterday’s big deal between Disney and LucasFilm, Rovio Entertainment announced their upcoming title Angry Birds Star Wars. The title brings arguably one of the biggest sci-fi franchises together with one of gaming’s biggest franchises.

Angry Birds Star Wars is not that different from the original title in terms of gameplay. The birds within the game have been modified to resemble characters from the Star Wars movie franchise.

In the trailer below, Red Bird resembles Luke Skywalker and there’s a brand new bird who resembles Princess Leia.

Fortunately it is the style of Anandtech to dig deep into what they see, they did just that with the iPhone 5.

Apple didn’t really let too much of the technical side slip during their press conference to unveil the iPhone, did anyone really expect them to? It’s not really their style. Fortunately it is the style of Anandtech to dig deep into what they see, they did just that with the iPhone 5.

So just what did Anandtech find? Well, using the numbers that could be seen around the side of the A6 chip during the press conference the tech site came up with a few tidbits on the iPhone 5. Those numbers that flank the chip tell the guys over at Anandtech that the iPhone 5 will come with 1GB of DRAM which will have a data rate of 1066MHz. The speed of that memory was clocked at 8,528MB/sec which means the iPhone 5 is 33% faster than its predecessor.

In a separate article Anandtech point out that the Apple A6 chip could be Apple’s first in-house creation. They found that the technology was too new to be part of ARM’S Cortex-A9 architecture and is unique from that to be found in the upcoming Cortex-A15.

If you are the type that can get through really dense material and would love to know the ins-and-outs of the iPhone 5 then you can go check out the Anandtech articles at the links below.

tl;dr

Anandtech looked into iPhone 5 and found out it will come with 1GB of DRAM that will make it 33% faster than the 4S.

The Apple A6 SoC (System on Chip) was developed solely in-house and not using ARM Cortex-A9 plans.

Everything you want and need to know about the Nintendo Wii U before its big release! Is the Wii U HD? What games will be out on release day? How much will the Wii U cost?

Over the past week Nintendo have been showing off their next-generation console around the world. The Wii U has now been dated and priced in Japan, Britain and the United States. Below, we have everything that you would want to know about the console before it is released to market. Let’s jump in shall we?

Wii U Release Date and Price

UK/Europe – 30th November release with prices ranging from £210-£280

USA – November 18th with basic costing $299 and premium at $349

Japan – December 8th priced at ¥26,250 up to ¥31,500

The prices above are for two separate bundles. The basic price will come with all the necessities you will need to get playing including the console itself, one play pad and the HDMI thingamabobs that you might need to hop in.

Electing for the premium bundle will mean that all those white will suddenly be black, you’ll get a boost in storage from 8GB to 32GB and you’ll even get a year of Nintendo Network Premium!

Woah!? WOAH?! Slow down there… What is this Nintendo Network Premium that you’ll get with your Wii U? Well, I’m glad you asked! Nintendo Network Premium will give you a 10% discount on any games you may wish to buy online with your Wii U. You’ll also earn points for purchases that can be used to buy more things! Incredible right? I actually think Sony were the first to this party with their PS+ package.

Nintendo came out with some hardware specs on the stage, it was basically like a blah, blah, blah, we’re finally making our console HD kind of thing. That’s right folks, a 1080p HD console right as 4K and 8K TVs are trying to break into the market with new content.

The console uses 75 watts while in play and 45 while in save mode, just in case there are any green gamers that may read this.

Now for the fun part! What games will we be playing on Wii U release day? Well, the list of release titles is long so here are a fe of my favorites:

Mass Effect 3

Madden 13

FIFA 13

Black Ops 2

Zombi U

Wii Fit U

Assassin’s Creed III

tl;dr

Nintendo are releasing a new console, it looks decent and has some good release titles. You can play for $299 when it is released in November. The console will be referred to by your friends as Wii U! Oh, and it will have HD graphics!

Well, they can! They definitely will too. Sony acquired Gaikai recently, a cloud based video gaming company and documents from a supposed Microsoft leak led us to believe that they would likely implement cloud too.

The cloud really is where everything is moving, that’s where most of my files are stored now, accessible around the globe on a PC, a Mac or a cell phone. If my files can be accessed anywhere, why can’t game companies come together and push the idea of games anywhere?

Well, they can! They definitely will too. Sony acquired Gaikai recently, a cloud based video gaming company and documents from a supposed Microsoft leak led us to believe that they would likely implement cloud too.

If you come away from the big hardware manufacturers there’s already a fully cloud based console that is out there on the market. OnLive offers gamers streaming of games through tablets, mobile, PC, Mac or even a $99 set-top box.

Having played around with OnLive I can tell you that the service is great! OnLive is how consoles should, and probably will, work. It brings a cheap experience, free of all the clutter of disks.

Unfortunately for OnLive they just don’t have the name recognition when it comes to selling a console to the masses, Microsoft and Sony do! If one of those companies wanted to seize the market once and for all then I think they need a console that would:

Be small, definitely starting out about the size of the current PS3

Fully cloud based gaming

Intuitive and well-organized game inventory system

Allow software resales

That last one is a tough point, companies like GameStop would disappear from the face of the planet if cloud based gaming were to become the norm. Consumers would also lose out on the ability not to sell software that they no longer use on to somebody else. A company that will allow their users to resell software is in my eyes a winner.

A recent EU ruling gave consumers the ability to sell on digital content and GameStop is looking into how it could work. If Microsoft allowed people to do this on the new Xbox I think they’d definitely have a winner on their hands.

I guess the real question is, will Microsoft or Sony want to hurt the content providers in such a way? Probably not. That’s why, in my final prediction, I don’t see the big three console makers (Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo) being in the business five years from now.

The future of games, in my opinion, will be run by the likes of OUYA, OnLive, and other, potentially even built-in, tv consoles.

I’d love to get some feedback on this from the readers. Let me know what you think in the comments!<img src="http://www.keynoodle.com/wp-content/plugins/inboundwriter/images/h_solidpurple.png" alt="Optimized with InboundWriter"class="alignleft" style="border:0;clear:both;"/>

The Olympics are fully underway and there are many ways to keep tabs on what is happening while you’re out of the house and away from the TV. I’ve checked out some of the best apps that you can play around with to get the most out of your Olympics experience.

NBC Olympics Live Extra

The NBC Olympics Live Extra app that is available on iOS and Android devices will allow you to watch high quality feeds of any live events that are taking place at the Olympics if you have a cable/satellite subscription in the United States.

I tried the app out for quality and I really liked it. You’re free to choose the events that you want to watch, provided that they are live, which is better than trying to find your events on the scattered coverage NBC provides through their TV viewing experience of the Olympics.

London 2012 Results App

The London 2012 Results App is also available on both iOS and Android. The app provides up to date information regarding all the London 2012 events including the latest news, medal winners and medal tables. You can also follow your home nation and keep tabs on the events that they will be competing in and medals that they may have won in the process.

I’d recommend the app if you want to keep up on the happenings around London during the thirtieth Olympic Games.

London 2012 Join In App

Are you in London for the Olympic Games? You might want to check out the London 2012 Join in App on iOS and Android. The app is perfect for visitors to the city during the Olympics as it provides maps around the city to all the venues and possible activities to do outside of the Olympics.

Another app for those in London either during or after the Olympics is the Travel Advisor app, London City Guide. It provides lots of activities and routes around the city so you can always find something to do, even after the Olympics have been and gone.

Let us know your experiences with the apps deigned for the London 2012 Olympics. If you have any other recommendations we’d love to hear about them in the comments section below or on the Facebook page, maybe even send us a tweet :D

The city got Google's new Fiber network today which will give them fast internet. When I say fast, I actually mean fast. The network will allow up and down speeds of 1000Mbps which Google claims is "100 times faster" than our traditional broadband.

I’m officially jealous of Kansas City (both on the Kansas and the Missouri side of things). The city got Google’s new Fiber network today which will give them fast internet. When I say fast, I actually mean fast. The network will allow up and down speeds of 1000Mbps which Google claims is “100 times faster” than our traditional broadband.

I just went to SpeedTest.net and on a single test my Comcast “high-speed” internet connection gave me 16.42Mbps, I think that’s fast so I have no idea what the people of Kansas City must be thinking right now.

You want to know what is even more awesome about Google’s new internet service? No caps, no download cap, no upload cap, it’s all cap free along with a 1TB Google Drive storage account so that you can send large amounts of data back and forth just to see how fast your new Google internet now is.

As if all of this isn’t enough, Google also announced Google Fiber TV. Google Fiber TV comes with a Bluetooth remote, and an interface like the Google TVs that we have seen in the past. The box Google will give to use with its new TV service comes with a 2TB hard drive allowing you to record over 500 hours of HD content.

Now for the cost… $300 up front to get that fiber-optic cable to your door and $120 a month for TV and Internet. If you sign up now for that package you can even get your $300 fee waived. If you’re happy with your TV service or you just don’t want it then you can get the internet service for $70 per month.

This is just awesome, I have only one request! Expand fast Google, I want your high-speed internet.

In today's iPhone 5 rumor we have a release date of September 21st and we have two sources involved in the break, PhoneArena and App4Phone, both of which have a good Apple rumor track record.

It’s about that time of year, we are getting many reports coming from many sources about the incoming iPhone 5. Much like last year, the iPhone 5 isn’t really even a thing yet, it is still simply a rumor but that doesn’t mean there aren’t some sources backing up these rumors.

In today’s iPhone 5 rumor we have a release date of September 21st and we have two sources involved in the break, PhoneArena and App4Phone, both of which have a good Apple rumor track record. The blogs both cite unnamed sources but they do confirm that the phone will be released on that third Friday in September.

How many KeyNoodle readers will be getting their hands on an iPhone 5 when, and if, it is released on September 21st?

Facebook just announced their earnings for the second quarter and it was a profit. The company has $1.18 billion in revenues which resulted in an earnings per share (EPS) value of 12-cents.

During the earnings presentation Facebook announced that they had also added 55 million users since April resulting in a monthly active user count of 955 million. The daily active user count sits pretty at 552 million which is another gain from the 526 million that the social network reported in April.

The numbers resulted in a gain of 5% immediately after being announced but that quickly turned around and sent Facebook to a further 10% loss in after-hours trading. Currently the stock is trading down 9.33% in the after hours markets after already losing 8.5% in the open market today. On the bright side, it isn’t as bad as the Zynga outcome as that company’s stock had a terrible day on the open market, losing 37.48% for investors.

If the report out of China Times is correct then Microsoft will only be letting the elites among their OEM partners build Windows RT tablets in the latter half of 2012.

The OEMs were selected by the three big chipmakers NVIDIA, Qualcomm and TI. Each of the chipmakers were allowed to bring two OEMs in with them, if an OEM was not on the list then they will not be able to bring an RT tablet to market.

NVIDIA has partnered with Lenovo and ASUS, Qualcomm bagged up Samsung and HP and TI managed to get a hold of Toshiba. Most of the biggest electronics producers in the world are represented in the list but others will not be allowed to play for the foreseeable future.

The first line of Windows RT tablets will be hitting stores on October 26th. Will anybody be buying one?
