Cricket to Offer Prepaid iPhone 4S Unlimited at $55/month

Have you long been dreading the contract but always wanted a brand new iPhone? Cricket seems as though they may have an answer in store for you. The company will offer a prepaid plan for an iPhone 4S at an astonishingly low price of $55 for voice, text and data.

If you want to take advantage of the prepaid plan there will be the upfront cost of the iPhone which will run you $399 for the 8GB iPhone 4 and $499.99 for the 16GB iPhone 4S. It should also be noted that while the plan says “unlimited” there are a few terms in that deal. The big kicker is that you get 2.3GB of data before you start to be throttled.

Those throttled speeds will mean that if you cross the data threshold you will be forced to a data speed of around 56Kbps to 100Kbps. Yes, that’s right, you’ll be going back to dial-up. An easy way to avoid such a situation though is to make sure you’re connected to WiFi wherever possible.
