iPhone 4S Sells 1 Million in Under 24 Hours
The day of the latest generation iPhone unveiling last week garnered complaints from consumers, a drop in Apple stock price and many left wondering how successful the iPhone 4S will be. Well fast-forward to pre-order day and in just short of 24 hours Apple claims it has sold over one million units.
In a prepared statement on the Apple website, Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing exclaimed “We are blown away with the incredible customer response to iPhone 4S.”
Just how big is the launch of the latest iPhone for Apple well, once again according to the above statement, “the first day pre-orders for iPhone 4S have been the most for any new product that Apple has ever launched.”
On a day where seemingly all equities were trading higher the news about the large amounts of pre-orders sent Apple stock (AAPL, NASDAQ) soaring with a 5.14% gain on the day. Apple stock settled at close at $388.81. After hours trading also left Apple slightly higher.
